Kilimanjaro routes, Uhuru peak and Julius Nyerere

Julius Nyerere named Kibo peak the Uhuru Summit

“We the people of Tanganyika, would like to light a candle and put it on top of Mount Kilimanjaro which would shine beyond our borders giving hope where there was despair, love where there was hate, and dignity where before there was only humiliation”
Those are wisdom words expressed on 22 October 1959 by Julius Nyerere in a speech to the Tanganyika Legislative Assembly emphasizing his party’s demand majority self-government replace British Colonial rule.

The important of Mount Kilimanjaro was not only that spirit of Independence (Uhuru) but also Tourism attraction. The Kilimanjaro peak at Kibo is also known as Uhuru because of its important in emphasizing independent (Uhuru) demand.
Most people trek to Uhuru peak through Kilimanjaro routes. Kilimanjaro route is famous term used to mean pathways which lead tourists to Kilimanjaro summit. Kilimanjaro Summit is at Kibo peak with height of 5895m. Most Known routes are Marangu, Rongai, Machame, Lemosho and Umbwe.

Southern and Northern circuit routes are special Kilimanjaro trails which traverse whole Kilimanjaro Mountain. These circuits are reached through Kilimanjaro routes. Kidia route is another Kilimanjaro beauty route which is to be reestablished. News will be released as Kidia route is ready to be used by mountaineers.
Climbing gears are basics you will need to be comfortable when trekking up Kilimanjaro. The temperature drops dramatically the higher you climb and the sun’s rays can cause considerable burns, particularly high altitudes. HAT, goggles, hiking poles, warm clothes, mountain boots, head torch, crumples, duffel bags and backpacks are useful gears.

Moshi town is convenient town for first night on arrival in Tanzania before start trekking up. Moshi is located 45 kms from Kilimanjaro International Airport-JRO and convenient Airport transfer to the Hotel in Moshi is provided. Hotel reservation for hotels in Moshi is done and all Kilimanjaro climbing preparations are organized in Moshi.
